Balanced Occlusion - An Essential Factor In Maintaining The Dental Ligament.

The classic technique to identify pathogenic occlusal contacts is to mark them with inked paper. We then polish contacts that we consider pathogenic. It must however be noted that there is no connection between the surface marker and the actual intensity of contact. Using this technique, contacts with high intensity cannot be identified.

In practice even powerful contacts may not be highlighted by paper and other contacts well-expressed may be of normal strength. An occlusal map can show all the contacts or movements but it will never identify where contact is made initially or confirm a uniform distribution of contacts in terms of intensity.

Dental implant and ceramic works / structure

To maintain at an acceptable level (below 5 mm) the periodontal pockets, is the most important thing in dentistry. Also it was already shown that the dental implants that are already inserted in the mouth of a patient will be well affected by the microbial germs found in the deep pockets of the natural teeth, coexist with them , and these will be expelled, because of the dangerous phenomenon called peri – implantitis.
(PAPPAIOANNOU, QUIRYNEN, VAN STEENBERGHE CLINICAL ORAL IMPLANTS RESEARCH, 6, 197-204;2005 The effect of periodontal parameters on the subgingival microbiota).

Obviously means that a patient who is already bearing implants or is going to be implanted, will have to maintain the physiological levels of periodontal pockets. The easiest way to maintain the small depth of periodontal pockets is to have and use the mouth guard Gingival Protect is . The main reason is because the mouth guard can be used a long time, it means at home, when he has time and also it is active throughout the patient's life.

Maintaining natural teeth and extending the lifetime of implants

Causes of tooth loss are multiple, but most are associated with periodontal (gum) tissue destruction. This is seen clinically by the appearance of deep periodontal pockets, gum shrinkage and a reduction in bone levels. Bleeding gums, bad breath (halitosis) and swollen gums can be accompanied by gum pain due to acute inflammation of the gum. All these phenomena occur against the normal ageing process which is characterized by a decreased rate of regeneration.

Area for Dentists

What do patients say about Gingival Protect?

  • I went to several dentists and they recommended extracting my teeth and replacing them with implants. After two months of using Gingival Protect, my loose teeth have tightened up. I have no tooth mobility and I can eat harder foods again.

    Cristina

  • When I bit hard my gums used to bleed, so I avoided hard foods. The appearance of my gum appearance was very ugly, with red areas that stopped me from smiling. After a month of using Gingival Protect, my gums are pink and I can eat anything with confidence because my gums no longer bleed.
